Does SMP Hurt?

The SMP (scalp micropigmentation) procedure can cause some discomfort, but overall, it doesn’t hurt much. The sensation varies from person to person, but many describe it as feeling like tiny pinpricks or scratches, more of an annoying tingling than strong pain. Here are some key points: 🧠 Pain tolerance varies: Some people barely feel anything, while others experience discomfort in certain areas of the scalp (like the crown or hairline). 💉 No general anesthesia is used, but many technicians apply topical numbing creams to reduce discomfort. ⏱️ The procedure is long (2–4 hours per session), so even if the pain is minimal, the duration can cause some fatigue or discomfort. ✅ After the procedure: there may be slight itching or sensitivity, but it’s not sharp pain. In summary: yes, it can hurt a little, but it’s completely tolerable for most people. Many say it’s less painful than getting a traditional tattoo.
